Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Sr. Director of Transportation is a newly created, high-impact, individual-contributor role.  The role will lead the strategy, deployment and performance of our fleet of vehicles as well as logistics across our supply chain.  Reporting to the SVP of Procurement and Supply Chain, this role will lead the supplier selection/management for our fleet, monitor performance and delivery against key metrics.  Key metrics will cover fleet utilization, safety, cost per mile and fuel cost efficiency.  The role will partner closely with our Safety, Finance and Supply Chain teams with the largest collaborators being field operations (RVPs, GMs, Service Directors) that locally utilize the fleet. 

ImageFIRST has realized significant organic and inorganic growth in recent years with a very strong growth trajectory moving forward.  This role is being created to evaluate our current processes (that are effective to date) and author the evolution of our transportation vision to help ImageFIRST realize our scale, deliver exemplary service and contribute to a safety-first culture. 

An ideal candidate will have experience in overall transportation management with a strong track record of effectively managing an internal fleet (preferably leased).  The role will require strong functional expertise, financial acumen, communication and informal leadership skills.  At inception, this role will be an individual contributor with significant leadership reach across the organization.  As the company scales, there will be an opportunity to evaluate the need to expand the Transportation team.  

 

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Lead supplier selection, terms, contracts and management of our fleet providers including owned and leased vehicles
  • Direct field operations to ensure optimal use of equipment, including oversight equipment acquisition and utilization
  • Deliver performance on key cost, safety and efficiency metrics in partnership with field operations and FP&A
  • Manage fuel program and accountable for fuel cost efficiency across the platform
  • Manage forecasting and fleet planning including adherence to federal, state and local regulations
  • Develop strategy and scalable transportation process for product flow across our supply chain – from supplier/3PL through plant through depot to point of customer delivery
  • Accountable for monitoring and compliance across the operation for driver training, certification and safety documentation
  • Ability to benchmark and negotiate import freight to initially guide Procurement team but potentially manage import freight on directly global sourced products
  • Evaluate potential program and cost savings in ImageFIRST managing freight upstream from our supplier base
  • Partner with FP&A, Supply Chain and Capital Deployment team to deliver and evolve network design across the ImageFIRST platform
  • Establish, review and update standard operating procedures (SOP’s) across Transportation
  • Other duties may be assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.  Masters degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in Transportation or Fleet Management in a corporate environment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both in-person and across remote platforms.
  • A demonstrated track record of developing and implanting best practice programs across transportation
  • Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment requiring strong multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office suite, including advanced MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint expertise.
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to work across departments and functional areas of the organization to drive synergies.
  • Strong project management skills or PM certification
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% for the position's requirements.
  • Bilingual or multi-lingual proficiency is a distinct advantage.
  • Familiarity with advanced transportation management and routing systems / technology solutions is strongly preferred.
