Responsibilities & Qualifications

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Director of Industrial Engineering to join our growing organization in the Northeast region. In this leadership role, the Director of Industrial Engineering will oversee all engineering activities and projects within their designated region, including facility design, project development, planning, budgeting, and execution. The Director will be responsible for implementing and maintaining overall engineering objectives and initiatives, as well as hiring, developing, and leading an engineering team.

 

The Director of Industrial Engineering will manage a comprehensive project management process, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time and within budget. The Director will supervise staff in the daily execution of their duties, ensuring that project and regional milestones are met while adhering to approved budgets. The Director will have full authority over personnel actions. Additionally, the Director will lead high-priority, high-visibility projects, ensuring that organizational expectations are met while upholding our core Operating Principles. This individual will be accountable for delivering precise planning and exceptional engineering services.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Develop project scopes of work and bid specifications, manage project schedules and budgets, and oversee the execution of capital projects.
  • Develop capital budgets, calculate return-on-investments, conduct capacity analyses to support project planning and resource allocation.
  • Review bid proposals, MEP, architectural, and civil drawings, and negotiate vendor and contractor pricing.
  • Build and lead a team of Project Engineers to execute ImageFIRST’s capital plan.
  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team and senior management.
  • Continuously implement best practice engineering methods.
  • Perform additional field support tasks as needed, including process improvement, utility management, wastewater permitting, and other related services.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field is required; Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred, with Electrical or Industrial Engineering also preferred.
  • Postgraduate courses in business-related disciplines (e.g., PMP, PPM) are preferred.
  • Project Management certification or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification is strongly preferred, or a solid understanding of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineer, with demonstrated experience in managing projects exceeding $500,000 in scope for external clients. Previous experience in the laundry industry is a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time to ImageFIRST field locations.
  • A valid, clean driver’s license is required.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (e.g., Word,  Powerpoint, Excel, and Project) and computer-assisted design (e.g., CAD) software.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, changing environment (e.g., managing 4-6 projects simultaneously).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to see both the big picture and the finer details of projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong mechanical and technical skills.
